THE HOOD OF OUR CHILDREN
EMPIRICAL RESEARCH
Our study consists of two parts, firstly a quantitative questionnaire and secondly a qualitative online focus group. Our aim was, among other things, to assess teachers' awareness of mental health, but also to find out what teachers need in order to feel best prepared to deal with mentally affected students.

QUALITATIVE ONLINE FOCUS GROUP
DIVIDED INTO THREE THEMATIC GROUPS
3 PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS,
1 SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHER
4 FEMALE
FINDINGS
What support in terms of time resources, additional training and/or assistance from experts do teachers need in order to feel best prepared to deal with affected pupils?
MORE INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL SUPPORT
Teachers need more support in dealing with mentally affected pupils. They want for example more school psychologists and counselling teachers who are at the school more often.
SMALLER SCHOOL CLASSES
For teachers, a smaller class would be helpful as they can spend more time with each student.
OVERVIEW OF ALL ADVISORY CENTERS
Teachers would like to have a clear brochure or website where all advisory centers are listed so that they can quickly look for help.
ENCOURAGE TEACHER HEALTH
The teachers want more attention to be given to their health, because if they are not well, it can also affect the students.
